Howcome some missions don't give reputation?

Hi, Great game.

One do get reputation from requests for various materials and services, but not from rescue missions, and the like, from derelicts or random faction missions. There does seem to be a negative modifier on failure for said missions though.

Seems odd, so I wonder if it is intentional for some reason?
