For reasons of immersion and aesthetics I build single rooms though, and I hope they'll be useful in the future.
I arrange my sleeping quarters so most beds have overlapping bonuses from:
* Bunkbed
* Single bed (these are different categories) :)
* Arcade Machine
* Jukebox
* x1 chair/x1 couch (hard to get both of these and still have the beds accessible)
* light source
* kitchen unit (I build some of these that aren't used for meals)
You can get pretty high comfort where your crew gets the feeling comfortable x 6 max bonus after only a couple hours of sleep. Although visually you'd think you have to leave the sides of the beds open for access, you only need to keep one square open along the entire edge including the ends. You can block any 5 of the 6 adjacent squares and your crew will still be able to use the bed.
