-invading a pirate ship turns it into a derelict ?
i just invaded a ship that attacked me and after killing the crew it turns it into a derelict? why cant i take that ship with me or dismantle it like it was a ship i own to get better parts? if i take over a ship killing the crew i should be able to get that ship ?

I think that makes logical sense to me. After all, it can be difficult to defeat a ship in combat anyways. But, no, currently it doesn't work this way.

i invaded the ship with people and did not shoot it with my ships cannons, i took like 6 of 8 people hostage so the ship and nearly all its stuff was completely intact so no damage to the main hull of the ship
Space passwords are notoriously difficult to crack.

"that would make more.... capturing most of the crew alive turning the ship into a useless pile of scrap.....
you should at least be able to dismantle the items and get full resources rather then scrap

but how is that differant then finding a ship floating about ..... the ship i found just happened to have some crew :cubelol:
Except when you attach an explosive collar to your enslaved crew private parts, then the password seems to magically come to you. Yes?

Nope Space Passwords are supervised by super AI ... rendering any form of extortion useless
But if one of the crew has the password... what can a super AI really do?

Also, Super AIs need super amounts of power, and processing ability. If you disconnect the AI from its processing power and limit the amount of power it is getting, you have effectively neutered the AI.
Well you have probably found the reason why the ship turns into a derelict : Once the Super AI "neutralized" or forced to admit his missing power it renders everything useless :rufushurt:
The problem with that though, is if it was trying to scuttle the ship, why not just cause a reactor breach and turn the ship into a debris field
Forget the logic. It's clearly there for economic balance.
You can capture a single size pirate ship pretty easily as soon as you have more than pistols (probably even with pistols if your careful).
It would be pretty pointless if you could just capture the first pirate ship you find and get a fully functioning ship with guns, shields, medical etc... without ever having to research or build any of it.
Well then they should make capturing pirate vessels harder to offset the benefit to a player by doing it like this. Because finding a claimable ship can be quite hard.

that is a good point but it would be nice if you were able to dismantle everything and get the full value rather then just scrap but that is just me
Or at the very least, the ability to "move" the object from one ship to the other, if you have the research unlocked. But if you don't have the research unlocked, it gets turned into scrap. I think that would be a balanced way to handle things. Those that understand how things work enough, to be able to build it themselves, should be able to dissassemble the same object on a formerly hostile ship, into its core components, rather than scrap.
