how do i pick it up items on the floor?

tutorial wanted me to explore a derelict, but apart from shooting aliens and that one table with green squares (containing credits and a note), there doesn't seem to be any reason to. there are items on the floor, and if i hover them it says what they are, but there's no way to pick them up.

i've tried walking people over them and pressing a variety of keys. the right-click context menu does not bring up any kind of "pick up" option.

Once you explored/un-fog-of-war-ed the entire wreck, a notification will pop up that you can now start transfering cargo or salvaging parts. It should include a thorough explanation, but basically, if you zoom out and click on the ship, or click on the ship's icon in the top right, you'll get a li'l menu where you can select which items you want to transfer or which types of scrap you want to salvage, and then your (undrafted) crew will get to work automatically.

Hi there!

There should indeed be a "New Salvage Available" at the right side of the UI once the derelict is explored. It is automatic, you only need to give the commands. Hopefully you find that info at the right hand side (If you dismissed it by mistake then we can help more!)

looks like there was a corner that technically counted as un-explored. once i stood someone in it, the new salvage message appeared.

I sent my crew all around that derelict ship in the tutorial like 10 times.. there are no dark tiles left. No Salvage button available to me. *sigh

UPDATE: Either I missed that button popping up or it never appeared, but anyway, there is - when you zoom out to the overview of nearby asteroids and ships and you have selected that derelicted ship - an option on the bottom left to salvage parts and transfer items to your ship. Hurray!

Was there a Alien fight and did you miss an Alien Spore/Egg sack?
Check the area with Alien green slim again ;)
