How to heal crew members?
One of my crew members is bleeding, I have medkits but don't know how to use them.

You need a medical bed for them. They will lie down and be treated by other crew members with medkits and fluids.

If I remember correctly though they can also recover from wounds without a medical bed and treatment..

They also might be suffering from a condition that is lowering their max health

I'm pretty sure that sleeping has some positive healing effect, you can try that if you don't have a medbay.

can they recover from bleeding? Because there is no way I can research medical beds in time before half my crew dies.

It really depends on how much they are bleeding and how much health they have left. Wounds will heal over time, even without treatment, but if they are already low on heath they will most likely bleed out before they can heal.

Having them lie down (force rest period with the schedule override function when a crew member is selected) is probably your best bet early game.
Once you have medical beds obviously things change.

They need to make medpacks for the team members to use while in combat, maybe a research and crafting?
If it doesn't remove damage they could at least counter deleterious effects.

Also be able to use it on captured crew so they don't die between the shuttle and home ship

That would be great help, some kind of first aid kit will help as there is option in inventory for secondary equipment. There will have to be new condition before first aid kit can be used on someone because I cannot imagine how you can stop bleeding on crew member in spacesuit. Maybe an option in shuttle?

Fast acting glue and duct tape. Battlefield treatment isn't always about making things better, the main goal is to prevent things getting worse.

It is stupid that to stop bleeding on crew member, it is needed to research medical bed and other person then can stop bleeading on that poor bleeding crew member?

So in future ppl are that less inteligent that they cannot use medical equipment on themselves?
There should be option to add medkit to equipment as mentioned above and with that ability to crew member to go and use medical supplies to stop bleeding!
It is future dammit! Why there is no early on some wall mounted first aid kit?
It is insane! Or should I say... dumb xD
This really must be fixed in terms of making better basic healing abilities.

For normal bleeding from accidents, fights etc. there should be simple way to stop bleeding period!

For gunshot wound, explosion ETC. medical bay (with medical bed) for chirurgical operation and stitching!
Logic ;)

Yes, they will stop bleeding on their own. If the crew isn't badly hurt, just make them keep working, its a waste of time to have them lying in a med bed.

Makes no sense...

either force them to sleep (if no medical bed), get up for food and put them back to bed and repeat until they are healed, or draft them and force them on to the medical bed (if you have one).

if you leave them like that and work them, majority of the time things get worse and they die.

sometimes i've seen some crewman use a medpack from a storage, might be those with skills can heal them selves while those that don't need a bed.

It is not about seeking solution to bad design. It cannot be as gameplay in long term. It needs to be reworked. "Sollutions" like which you mentioned is just dumb.

Imagine bleeding and goilg into bed to heal wounds.... idiotic! xD
