Do individual rooms matter

As it says, does it make any difference currently if I have a large dormitory, or separate rooms for each person to sleep in?

I doubt it does. Nothings implemented that way - not yet.

The only thing your crew seems to care about is comfort. They have no want or desire to have their own rooms and they get no additional benefits from it if you do make separate rooms.

The game actually encourages you to cram everyone into as small a barracks you can manage. If for no other reason then to save space. The only real downside is, cramming a lot of people in a tight space for a few hours, can over tax your ability to remove the built up CO2 from that room and supply enough O2.

Yeah I don't like jamming them in and I don't like bunks, but I have been building 7 x 13 barracks with two kitchens, two lounging/eating areas, two entertainment devices and about 10 single beds, looks nice and seems to be effective plus you can mark out one side for them if you get prisoners giving them one of the kitchens and lounge areas and as many of the beds as required.
