You are not intended to build a complete ship, or even a comfortable ship. Your only requirement is to make a functional ship.
a) noticed the recycler was never used -> scraped that thing
b) build metal refinery and then some steel plates -> scraped that thing
c) build electronic fabricator and then some electronic components -> scraped that thing
d) build assembler and then some infra blocks -> scraped that thing
you want to check if anything else is missing before scraping the machines and collect the resources from the asteroids before building them.
also build a power capacity node if you don't have one already and let it charge to 100% before crafting the steel plates or else the energie might drop down (15-20 power/s for the temporal machines)
EDIT
i think the missing infrablocks are from building additional walls and too many doors to separate the machines from the sleeping, comfort and eating area - in my game at least.
Infrablocks are basically used for EVERYTHING. Some things like doors, and the standing lights use up a single block all by themselves. But the thing most people forget are tools are also made from infrablocks. So it might look like wall lights are cheap, at just 50 tools, but that equals half an infrablock.
If this is the mining station start, disable logistics for the tool facility to save a few blocks. There's nothing to assemble inside the base anyway.
Items will dismantle for 100% of their input ingredients. Any whole numbers of resources inside the facility will also be dropped.
The goal of the game is to make a big enough ship to jump out of the first spot.. Then start mining and make the ship bigger/better as you go. Eventually adding industrial capability.
It would be nice to have it all at the beginning.. But that is not happening after the apocalypse.
when tutorial state "make water refinery" they spam 5 refineries for no reason and suddenly no resources left for hyperdrive.
such faulty logic exists IRL, just look at "mars rover".
