Having an unreachable area can easily create situations where a hatch to a facility cannot be reached by crew members, like the hyperdrive.
^This, I always start the game on medium and don't like to waste space.
If no one needs to go there they don't need to be open do they?
This would mean an unreachable tile could increase in temperature, moisture content or gas level which in turn would cause consequences if your equipment took into consideration optimal temperature/moisture levels.
To my knowledge such thing is not implemented (yet?)
I guess I'd air caution on ship designs based upon future proofing.
Any tile could get a hole from micro-meteroids.
That is why no unreachable tile is good idea.
Just put a wall section there to fill it in. It's definitely the best way to deal with inaccessible locations.
Still the only solution that works?
Then you get a hull breach and... how do you think your crew is going to repair it?
