How to trade/use operations console?

Hi!
I have a question about trading.
I'm already in the second sector (did finish the tutorial with building Hypersleep chamber and jumped to the next sector) and only was able to trade once.
I did build an operations console and also have trade agreements with otzher factions, but my problem is:
When a new ship enters a system and i click on the "trade" button on the other ship in the tactical map i get the message that the station needed for trade is not manned.
I don't know how i did managed to man the station the one time i was able to trade but
i met many ships i should have been able to trade with but never was able.

So my question is:
What do i have to do to be able to trade?

thers a trade button u click if u want to do more you hail the ship, put your operations console on red alert

Yeah, i see a trade button on the other ship (also on mine but that is greyed out too).
But when i click it it is greyed out and says "Operation Console not staffed(or manned or something like that)".

Thats the problem i don't understand how i get my Crew to use the operation console (or be able to trade) with Ships.
Do i have to draft a crewmember with the right skill and give him the instruction to use the OPerations Console?

As i already were able to trade with one ship and didn't do anything else i'm really puzzled why it doesn't work.

trading works without operations, just select trade -> new trade and select one of you ships (skipped if you have only one) and there you go

Operations is for hailing and communication. You can force your crew to specific positions (weapons shields nav and operations via the fourth button on the upper left.

Make sure your airlock/docking port thing has the [Allow Trade] box ticked

When you click on a ship you will get its info block on the bottom left of your screen. At the top left of the info block there should be a trade button. Click that and you can open a trade window without having anyone at ops and without having to hail the other ship.

Well I just tried to recreate what your doing wrong, and I now know it doesn't matter if you have your (X1 Airlock) Allow trade box ticked to get the Trade window open, which means your either not actually clicking the trade button, or your game is bugged.

Yeah, found that. Was a litte hard to find the right box at first but now i know which box lets me trade.
