CO2 Planter Zone Setup
So I looked into the planting zones for food, and saw that they like Co2. So, I made a room, set up two of the larger planters, and put a CO2 Producer in it. The only entrance is through a Spacesuit Door, so that logically, the staff will put on suits, walk in, work with the plants, and leave before removing their suits, however, they like to hang out in the room, apparently, so they'll walk back tot he door, take off their suit, nearly suffocate and rush out of the room.

Is there a way to ensure that they cannot be in that room without a suit?

Are the plants even growing without oxygen?

from google. "all plant cells need oxygen to live"

So although it doesn't answer your question, maybe the devs just didn't expect people to put plants in rooms like that.

Im curious also, if co2 zones are better for growing i'll jump on board.

They can grow in a room with nothing but a CO2 producer.

According to the grow-trays, they eat CO2 and produce some oxygen, so I figured I'd make very sure that they had plenty of CO2 to work with.

Also the GUI says "Works best in an enclosed room with a CO2 producer so..

make it like this - grow beds and co2 producer in a room with door. have a heater inside that room, lights on the walls. and close the vent in the door. as your life support will ♥♥♥♥ up the co2. for your plants

Well yeah, but if your staff enter without a suit, they'll start suffocating.

They will suffocate even if they have a suit on, just from spending a lot of time tending to the plants.

They suffocate way faster without one.

Time for some testing. With or without a space suit door or a standard door with or without the vent closed. Monitor the CO2 and Oxygen levels at all stages. I just have an enclosed room with a standard door with the vent open and with a CO2 machine and some extra lighting and I haven’t had any problems with botanist dying.

I currently have that going on as well, simply cause I can't afford to do a new room right now. When I can build one. I'm gonna keep my current setup, but then build the new co2 filled spacesuit room. Then I'll be able to get a better idea which is better.

If its not a huge difference I'll most likely stay with the non suit room.

If the vent is open to the room, your CO2 machine is probably running nonstop, countered by your gas filter, no?
