there was a problem downloading additional content
Every time i open the game i keep getting
"There was a problem downloading additional content. please check your internet connection and try again"

There is nothing wrong with my internet connection (sorta proven by the fact im using the steam client on pc to post this here)
I've tried verifying game files and that didnt fix it

Did you manage to find a solution to this issue in the end? I'm facing a similar problem and would appreciate any insights or advice you might have.

We are experiencing the same problem. I am using mac and there was an update to my software. Do you think this could be related to the problem?

I have no idea if this will help, but the only thing that I can think of, apart from standard/basic things like verifying the game files or restarting Steam or the computer, is to clear Steam's download cache -- Settings > Downloads > Clear download cache

If it turns out that it is a Mac problem, then I really have no idea.

Thank you for your suggestion! I've tried clearing the download cache in Steam, but unfortunately, it didn't resolve the issue for me.

Sorry to hear that, but it was kind of a long shot.

Do you happen to be using a Mac, like someone else mentioned in an earlier post?

Other than that, you could try the suggestions for fixing the "loading profile" bug, like in the topic below. It doesn't seem to be the same problem, but it's one that a lot of people have run into. Maybe what you're seeing is a variation of that problem (grasping at straws here :happymeat:).

在手機上的這款遊戲,更新已經到了1.7.7,而且可以正常遊玩。
但是在steam上,還是無法啟動遊戲。

Oh well. The Mac angle sounded promising (if you were both using Macs and there was some kind of OS update, that might have pointed to the problem).

If your save file got corrupted, you may have to delete it and start over. The "loading profile bug" topic that I mentioned talks about saving your save data, but you may not have that option.

A Web search only turned up a few references to that "problem downloading ..." error. There was a Reddit post from 2 years ago, with 0 replies, which is not encouraging. And a post in the Apple store had a reply saying to contact NinjaKiwi support. That would probably be the next thing to try. There's a contact link in the pinned topics. I have no idea if they'll actually respond.

Thank you very much for your assistance. I have already emailed customer support, but I'm not sure how long it will take for them to address my issue. I made a purchase in the in-game store just a few days ago, so if the customer support department has been disbanded, it would indeed be a waste of money.🥲

I had this issue but accidentally fixed it, made another in-game purchase since and no issues!
I wanted to keep playing so I made a new steam account just for this game, played through the intro stuff then got bored and switched back to my main account for one last attempt. It made me start over but when I got passed the intro stuff I decided to see if I could get my previous save back and I did through cloud save, and was able to play as normal without issues. It's a bit time consuming to do this so I don't recommend trying it unless it's a last resort after all other options have failed. Hope it does help though!
