Pixball Machine Mechanics?

So I'm currently trying to get the Top Prizes from the Pixball machine, and am having a pretty difficult time in the process.

What I've learned so far is that, unlike actual gacha machines where its pure luck, the Pixball machine involves a little skill. It seems that you're able to turn the handle more than once, and at two turns, you get a Second Prize, with three turns (assumedly) being the Top Prize.

I can't seem to wrap my head around how to reliably turn the handle more than once though, let alone three times. One article I found online mentions that holding the button seems to allow you to be able to turn it again, but that online works sometimes. Rapidly pressing the button also only works sometimes.

Since rapidly pressing seems to work, I'm going to assume that you have to press the button again at a very specific moment, with the window for a third turn being even smaller. Problem is, I can't figure out when that moment is, since I only sometimes get the second turn, and have never been able to turn it a third time.

If anyone else has a better grasp on how this works and would be willing to explain it, I'd appreciate it a ton!

Is it random? The machine in Greenberg Chapter 2 gave me the three tier 3 prizes, then the 2 tier two prizes, then the 1 tier one prize... in that order, no repeats. I did have to turn the knob 2 times for tier 2 and 3 for the top tier. It felt like a total accident, I actually thought it just gave you all the prizes nicely like that until reading this thread!

This. It seems to give you at least one of each pixball. I've only had a repeat once in monkollywood, then it immediately gave me the last ones I didn't get yet
