Can't lock

Hope someone can help with this. No matter what I try, I can't lock anything. Currently stuck trying to dock 2 minutes into the game because I can't lock. Any ideas?

You need to click with the middle mouse button or one of the triggers on the station.

Yep, tried that. Also changed the button in options to other buttons on my key board. No luck :(

Sorry to hear that. Usually people don't read the hints and by the time they reach a station - they have no idea what to do. But it seems you can't lock onto anything, can you? Any asteroids nearby for example?
If no - you don't have to read any following text, and I am sorry to say I don't know how to help you, this is the first time I heard anyone having this kind of problem.
If yes, locking onto targets is only avaliable at a pretty close range. There are 5 conditions that would allow you to dock
1. You're not in combat
2. The station is not hostile
3. You're a 1000 meters or less from the station
4. The station is dockable. Some stations don't have an interior, therefore can't dock with those
5. Some missions disable docking with stations. But not those, that have an objective to dock.
