The gameplay was also lackluster and not fun, customizing the ship wasn't even all that fun; because the previous games had you using all kinds of ships from various factions/species and of various sizes.
SPG3 had valid criticism from the get-go, and the devs replied saying they would address and make changes; and then when the game finally released it was exactly as it was in early access; the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ unlikable characters, the same horrible dialogue and voice-work, and the same crappy ships and UI.
They can't blame covid for any of this; many if not most small studios work remotely and tie all their work together through the internet; and earthquakes/flooding can only be used as a scape-goat for so long.
They made a trash game because they didn't listen to their community(unless they only listened to the 'white knights' who just gobbled this trash up and offered nothing but praise); and their company is where it is because of it.
Sad to see it happen; but if SPG3 was the 'quality' to expect from them going forward, then we didn't really lose anything going forward.
Also, I've been a huge fan of this team for YEARS; and was always glad to see them listen and be active with their community on their former games; was really sad to see them ignore us on this last game. Could have been something amazing that could have been an X4-Lite with more arcadey fun and not all the 'hardcore sim' that X4 has in it. =\
... guess I'll reinstall Gemini 2 on my Xbox and wander aimlessly in free roam, because this definitely was a letdown.
After 2 and warlord, i always feel they gave up too early and move on.
For me those game has potential but being abandoned.
However i do understand this is very difficult for small studio to do that, It just sad so less this type of game.
I wish they would have stuck with it and made warlords 2.
Never seen devs completely ignore a community like this one. Countless warnings they going in the wrong direction. I wont in line to buy the next one.
They are not scammers. They finished and patched the games (at least the other ones). But the studio went broke. They have no more money and had to fire people.
You’ve not been around long, have you?
Devs ignore dozens even hundreds of forums on steam games I own. They used to answer posts, but sadly that’s all shifted to Disgorge now.
Sign of the times. Ironic that the digital age was so that we could all keep in touch more easily. Instead it’s turned out a stone deaf medium that has selective ‘hearing’.
It's not the they don't communicate. The Studio went broke. They aren't making anything anymore.
