Buggy and Confusing

I normally really love shelter games and wanted to give this one a chance but I was unfortunately disappointed.
I had to restart twice alone due to bugs. The first time, I couldn't run into trees despite my herd being hungry. The second, there was this weird overlay on the game that went away with a restart, so I assume it was a bug.
I also had herdmates die for reasons I don't really understand. I had my herd close to me and they died underneath my feet. Initially, I restarted the level so that I could hopefully do things right, and this worked initially, but for some reason, the tiger killing my herdmates was permanent and I couldn't for the life of me understand why. I swear I saw the tiger and it was far away so I moved and then my baby died underneath my feet despite the fact that I had called my herd close a second ago. The only guidance I was given was to call my herd close. Nothing else. I did what the game told me, but that was apparently incorrect.
I'll probably refund this game. I got it on sale so it's not a big deal if I can't get it refunded, but I'm incredibly disappointed regardless.
