Game Not Saving

Whenever I pick "continue," I end up way back from where I left off. Specifically, there's the first time you encounter water. Got it? Now play forward, get past the machinery phase, where you have three guys controlling crane, tunnel machine, and finally given orders to find Shaft #4.

Exit the game. Now re-load the game. Guess where you start? Back at the water point. If this is the auto-save point, then I have better things to do. What say y'all? Please tell me I have a corrupt save file, because I really love this game. But not at the expense of having to run over the same real estate.

Yep, a lot of us have had this issue and brought it up many times.
