In other words, the MCC has a finite revenue stream, and doesn't make any more money beyond the initial purchase. Infinite continues to generate income, so it gets all of the focus. There have been several announcements and articles about this exact subject, you might want to look them up.

Like others said, late to the show, and the devs knew it was over when the community rejected microtransactions which the community got anyways now with a semi dead platform included. Corporate fault really $$$.
