If you're playing on heroic or legendary, there is no doubt that you'll be facing high-ranking enemies, with considerably stronger shield than that to a lower difficulty or a lower-ranking enemy (for example a minor compared to an ultra).
I'd suggest you take the time to get familiar with the weapons, some of them are just bad, and theres no way to make it better.
So far best weapon is a punch to the face.... I find that kidna sad when anti tank rifle cant rival a punch to the face XD
That's gotta be halo 4
Reach has the best weapon feeling in whole collection in my opinion.
Only the magnum sucks
Huh? Elite ultras have their shields dropped from a single charged plasma pistol shot on legendary.
Halo 3 has a more polished design than the vast majority of shooters released in the last 5 years.
- Plasma pistol overcharged shots instantly down elite/brute shields in any game, where applicable.
- If you're using any precision weapon, aim for the head.
- With the assault rifle, burst fire is more accurate at range compared to just holding down the trigger. It can be useful in many situations.
- Brutes are naturally tank, especially against plasma rifles. Aim for headshots with them, otherwise needlers usually work pretty well.
- Needlers in general are great for bringing down brutes, decent for elites as well depending on the game.
- In ODST a plasma pistol shot overcharged can 1-shot the floating engineers.
- Halo CE specific, if you are having issues seeing cloaked elites with swords, switch to the old graphics with whatever hotkey you have for it. They are much easier to see.
- Use grenades to break up enemy groups composed of grunts/jackals and other small fries, then move in and kill the wounded ones quickly. Works reliably in every game if you do it right.
The plasma pistol will *one shot* shields on any stock difficulty. Even those of Ultras. Don't listen to what others are saying as they're wrong. This changes when skulls are activated, but the maximum is still only 2 shots on H2 Ultras.
Precison weapons often outclass anything else when it comes to infantry.
People will call the CE Needler hot garbage and they're not wrong. But it's slightly less hot garbage when you use it *outside* of red reticle range. Needles will still track enemies from here and it is almost always more accurate then anywhere inside of red reticle range.
Fodder enemies (Grunts, Jackles, etc) are easy to deal with because of this. The main difficulty being shielded enemies (usually Elites), who were designed to be 'on par' with Spartans in durability and lethality. For them you'll want to break their shields first then kill them with a headshot. The 'noob combo' (Charged Plasma Pistol shot + Headshot weapon) is a simple yet very effective way to deal with them.
Sustained fire weapons (Assault Rifle, Plasma Rifle, Spiker, etc) are not great, they take a lot of shots to kill and they are only really effective at close range. They also cannot headshot. The only sustained fire weapon that are decent are Turrets/Vehicle Chainguns and the Needler.
Hunters are also annoying to deal with. They have no 'head' to shoot, or shields to break, they are just a lot of hit points covered in armor. You should try to shoot at the 'meat' parts (it's actually worms), but this can be hard to do consistently because of them constantly moving and the armor parts obstructing your view. Grenades and Explosive weapons are generally the best way to deal with them but it still takes a lot of shots and explosives are not always something you'll have.
Nope, it's just one.
Maybe you thinking of legendary with mythic on?
