In Halo 2, you'll encounter a different weapon. The Battle Rifle, which is effectively the same thing but burst fire.
The DMR is only a real threat if you've lost your shield, same with other sharpshooter weapons, like the Needler Rifle. (Needler rifle will also be absent on the other coming games)
The DMR was a new weapon once the prologue(Reach) was released after Halo 3, and 343 Industries wanted us to use it a lot for some reason. It was the same in Halo 2 when the Battle Rifle was new.
Yeah, it's annoying when everyone spawns with a carbine, but I'm positive that we'll encounter a lot less of it once the other games in the collection goes live.
I guess you suck with snipers.
Halo 2 : Battlerifle
Halo 3 : Battlerifle
Halo 4 : Battlerifle
Halo 5 : Magnum spam
Halo reach : Dmr
there is always a weapon in halo that is considered the most worthy.
Game is about juggling power weapons anyways so i dont see a problem.
the problem isn't the dmr, it's having everyone spawn with it.
Sprint existing made maps way too large. DMR starts makes large maps uninteresting since there's no fighting for areas of the map. All both teams do is plink each other across the map as if you got Team Snipers.
Thankfully, we'll have better maps once the original trilogy gets released. Hopefully without this cancerous DMR-only CoD-esk gameplay. Reach's Multiplayer has always been trash compared.
i played back in the 360 days before the title update, i remember what it was like. you could easily take out people using the dmr with teamwork and other power weapons in the map and use vehicles to your advantage. now there is none of that. everyone starts with a dmr and no other power weapons and vehicles get used because dmr is a bloody 4 shot kill. and god forbid you play big team battle and have 4 people shooting at you at once.
reach was never balanced for dmr starts and with reduced bloom and bleedthrough. and you are absolutely mental if you think giving everyone a dmr is a good balance decision.
That's because Reach's maps are not designed for your typical halo gameplay. They're too large and open to encourage that CQC where DMRs start to lose to other weapons. Instead, it encourages plinking the other team without any real engagement. Doesn't help that DMRs shred vehicles, which would be the only real way to encourage gaining ground.
DMR gameplay results in stale and boring matches without map strife or battles over weaponry.
You know OW is riddled with weapons that deal ridiculous headshot damage, right? That's the exact opposite of what you'd want to suggest to someone who doesn't want to deal with CS:Reach.
