Whoever came up with Spartan Ops I hope was fired
or at least got demoted to Janitor and then I hope the same thing for who ever decided to bring it to MCC and then not Balance it especially for Solo players.

Worst thing Halo has ever done. It's not that it's hard it's just not fun because all it is is Enemy spam. Its almost as if they were like "You know what would be fun? Lets see how many enemies we can put on screen all at once, but not in a fun way. Let's just keep spawning 10 elites with fuel rod cannons. That'll be super fun for the player. Then when that's over lets spawn 4 Hunters along with snipers and more Elites".

Having the players go to an objective and as soon as they show up we instantly spawn in a group of enemies and elites or protheans. That'll keep them on their toes and wouldn't be a hassle at all and then when they die we're going to keep spawning them in the middle of that same group of enemies over and over again. That'll get them super excited to play our game".

yep then lets cause the guns to de-spawn after 10 seconds so when you run out of ammo there is none around and the only way to continue is to die.

yep then lets cause the guns to de-spawn after 10 seconds so when you run out of ammo there is none around and the only way to continue is to die.
And then when you die they spawn you directly in the middle of all the enemies again causing you to constantly die until you get lucky enough to kill a few and are able to escape.
Spartan Ops in theory was made for 4 players and was never properly balanced for solo play (this is an issue since Halo 4 launch that ported over to the MCC). Its not thats hard to do the solo achievements because unlike Firefight you get infinite respawns there but its outright tedious. Not to mention it has more repetition than Cortana and The Library and Sacred Icon put together (especially on the first half)

yeah i dont mind the idea but it was way too repetitive that's what frustrated me the most. the idea of going in and fighting a bunch of enemies is alright for the first couple missions but not 50

The idea itself was a good one. The execution was poor and the fact that there is no balance for solo play does not make it more appealing. Id rather play The Library 50 times in a row than Spartan Ops (as boring as The Library is still has lots more environmental storytelling than Spartan Ops). Plus the Prometheans and Covenant are as boring to fight there as they are in the Campaign (even the Flood is more interesting to fight in prior games imo, not to mention the Covenant).
Its for when you get banned from your game crashing so you can do something besides campaign. Its a blessing. Or just remove bans from leaving games, then maybe people will play this.

The bans should be there for those who rage quit, but I agree they need to do something about it for when the game does crash.
I didn't mind Spartan Ops that much when it came out, it was a decent way to pass the time and play a Firefight-rip off but with actual objectives with friends. Of course i did play it when all the episodes were released, so that helped.
Also doesn't help that the whole thing is buggy (Including MCC altogether) where I completed the whole thing Legendary Solo and never got the achievement because a couple missions didn't register even though it says I completed them in game, but of course I can't even see what missions didn't register so I can redo them.
if they just allowed us to host custom games to be seen on the lobby browser or have a matchmaking service that would be grrrrreeeeeeaaaat (loudly sips coffee)
Even scalling it approprietly would be miles better than what we have now. Spartan Ops is worse than Cortana (Halo 3) or Sacred Icon (Halo 2) in a good day. I do not include the Library (Halo CE) here because replaying it so many times I gained a certain respect for that level (the environmental storytelling, its large enough where you have a generous space to crowd control the enemies and you have a blue light bulb spewing random hilarious banther. All this combined made me respect the level, like the other repetitive levels in Halo CE (yes I tried to keep this spoiler free as much as possible).

Its a slogfest, even on lower difficulties like Normal as it stands (completing it its a chore, absolutely not impossible to Solo it on Legendary but its even more boring). And it being plagued with most issues that are present in the Halo 4 Campaign isnt good either (like poor Marine AI, Prometheans boring encounters and Covenant boring encounters, not to mention the boring characters in the campaign being even worse there)...the absence of the ability to matchmake for Halo 4 Spartan Ops too, for example reinforces the issues too. Firefight is much better for a horde mode in Halo imo (both the Reach and ODST variants).

Because it was never meant to be played solo. Back in Halo 4 the game was in matchmaking so you always had a full 4-player party, even with randoms, which back then, it was VERY common to have people talking and goofing around in mic since they used to come free with a 3 or 12 month Gold subscriptions. We used to get lots of cool missions every week and it was awesome, specially since it used to have cinematics that advanced the story further (which for some reason don't play in MCC).

But of course, it doesn't make much sense to play it now in the MCC outside of achievement-hunting.
