Is it possible to make an Xbox Live account to play Halo MCC on Steam without actually owning an Xbox console?
I'm asking for a friend: we want to play co-op online together on PC but he doesn't have an Xbox.

Honestly requiring Xbox Live for the PC version is just weird.

No, you do not need to own an xbox one console. You just need a microsoft account and the game, either on steam or game pass pc or console version. Yes game is cross play with xbox users. If you don't own a microsoft account. Just create one on microsoft website. Then sign into your account when you play the game :)

No- you don't need xbox live gold to play it online on PC. Console users need to pay to access paid online games. FREE games on xbox one don't require gold membership. Just in case you don't know.

Just know HALO 1, 2 are only 2 players. The others are 4 players.

Halo CE has a memory leak issue so the game will struggle to run. Halo 2's co-op is broken. The other titles work fine. Also game uses p2p connection so if someone is across the world from you. The game will lag.

Thanks. The guy I'll be playing with is American and another friend I played Halo online with previously is in Japan so I'll be expecting lag. The American friend I played GZ Doom with too which was peer to peer as well.
