Halo has always been a staple splitscreen same sofa experience. Both slayer and co-op. Without it, the franchise would never have gone anywhere. And from what I'm reading, none of this is in the game, even online co-op has serious issues. This is... not Halo. This is something else, and I'll have to leave it at the virtual shelf.
Now, I absolutely don't want to badmouth 343 for their efforts, but ever since Bungie moved on from Halo, the series has been sadly going downhill, game after the next. It's a shame, really.
We are talking about games that ran on 20 to 15 year old hardware here. They'd run perfectly fine with software emulation on any entry level gaming PC today, with double or quadruple the original resolution - the reason splitscreen is not featured is development priorities, and unfortunately 343's aren't in line with my expectations or the series' legacy.
Back then on consoles people did play it though.
Wouldn't that be nice.
I bought this expecting splitscreen, as you said, splitscreen is a staple feature of Halo.
Guess I should've expected a hell of a lot less because again, as you said, Halo as a series has been getting worse and worse with every release, ever since 343 took over.
This is so freaking frustrating, man. All I wanted was the old Halo back. :(
And no, nucleus coop isn't the same. It's fiddly and it requires a lot more resources since you're running the same game several times at once. I'm glad it exists because PC game devs aren't providing this option to their audience, but the devs need to step up.
Since you're looking for splitscreen FPSs, here's what I can find:
Hypercharge Unboxed
Murder Miners
Blood: Fresh Supply
Doom 1 & 2
There's a lot more other splitscreen games on PC too.
Portal 2
Given that you "shoot" portals to solve problems, it really is.
You're a big fan of shifting definitions to fit your preferred version of reality, aren't you?
This is the same guy who tortured the definition of "computer" (when he meant "PC") for the sake of screaming "I'm right!!!"
...you can try to make him see his own logical inconsistencies, but I just don't think it will work out.
