It would give players a false sense of game completion when the game is meant to be never ending. They might think once they've got all the achievements that they've seen all there is to see. It would go against the point of the game. The point of the game is there is no point. You make your own goals. There is no right or wrong way to play. Achievements will steer people into doing arbitrary things for no reason.
Crab Buddy... check yerself. Just because YOU think its taking too long, doesn't mean that they haven't been actively working on it very hard, or that it hasn't indeed been their top priority this entire time. People like you are why game developers are hard pressed to release content before its ready (why it has become "normal" for games to release as absolutely unplayable ♥♥♥♥♥-storms full of bugs and an underwhelming amount of content). People like you just always want more-more-more to consume, and if it takes too long then you whine and cry about it online, regardless of care for quality and an understanding that some things take TIME. Grow up. You clearly have no idea what it takes to develop, and implement features, much less an entirely new gamemode.
Why don't you go ahead and get Adventure Mode pushed out yourself with the same level of Quality we expect for DF? I have a suspicion that you won't... because you can't... and I also expect you'll have nothing of worth to reply with, except for calling me a nerd or something like that. lol.
if you feel offended by the word Nerd. DF is the wrong game for you :D
its been over a month now since this "roadmap"..
anny news to share? how about droping an unstable beta?
Was able to play the Steam version on Linux before a Linux version was available. Does Mac not have anything similar to Proton or Wine?

Mac users seem upset because the mac version was stated to come out at the same time as the linux version, but didn't, and they probably don't want to do those install steps. But yes, they can still play the game. I can relate a little, as I'm using the linux version of the game now, and appreciate it being an option.
Damn, I didn't realize Buffalo was watching their progress over the last year or two. How could I have forgotten something so basic?
Ah wait, Buffalo is a nobody defending this blatant Steam cash grab in the name of the poor developers.
The fact is, nobody has been forcing the developers to release half-baked announcements since the game launched on Steam. I genuinely do not care about the umpteenth game convention that the devs went to— I care about genuine progress being made on the game. Compared to the junk announcements, there's been very few updates of substance. That's what people are mad about, nevermind the fact that Adventure Mode has been delayed yet again. This was a feature that was promised to launch soon after the Steam version launched, and yet this is just another promise they couldn't even deliver on. Only in the truly deluded population of Early Access diehards can you find such willing ignorance.
"People like me"? How is holding a developer accountable to the promises they made for a game I paid for the reason "they" release games early? Like is this a total failure of your reading comprehension? Players being more vocal in criticism has very little to do with when a developer chooses to release their game, except on the occasions where they point out deep, systemic flaws that a developer overlooked. But more often than not, developers launch these ♥♥♥♥♥♥ games anyway and either abandon it (ARK, Star Citizen, 99% of early access games, etc.) or polish it over the course of the game's lifespan (No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk).
Being that it is more likely for the developers to die than to truly finish Dwarf Fortress at this point, guess which category Dwarf Fortress belongs to, despite all the money its made from the Steam launch?
You mean an unfinished game mode that is deeply unsatisfying even though the developers have been working on the game for 15-20 years? We have literally seen better and actually finished games come out in shorter periods of time that were inspired by Dwarf Fortress, such as Rimworld. Rimworld's a great example here, because this was made through one kickstarter, a small team, and had a robust Early Access period after it was ready for playtesting.
Dwarf Fortress is shaping up to just be the indie Star Citizen.
I agree that the two aren't quite comparable, if only because both games' scope (and level of funding) are quite different, but we're talking about a game where its developers received millions of dollars for the Steam release, and a year later it feels like nothing's happened except convention after convention. This game might not be at Star Citizen's level yet, but I don't think the earliest supporters of Star Citizen knew that it'd still be in development all these years later. It feels like we're in that early phase with Dwarf Fortress, but I hope I'm wrong and that the game does eventually reach a completed stage.
though i would priotize bug fixing and quality of life functionality.
I wonder if some backers have already died of age or other reasons....
I love watching internet nobodies argue!
I know, right? Last thing I expected to see in my notifications was some response to a comment I made weeks ago
