what are mysterious dungeons

They are new. There are three different types of mysterious location, being lairs, dungeons, and palaces. They don't do anything outside of adventure mode, they are just tacked on for now as a place for adventures to go to. You can find magical artifacts in the dungeon and palace versions. The areas are occupied by cultists and the larger locations have a boss which is stronger, has masterwork equipment, and a magic item. As far as i can tell, in every world, all magic items are the same type of item (war hammer, battleaxe, earring, etc.), give you the same ability, and are made of the same magic material. There are also magic stones of the same material found in mysterious lairs.

ive done the lairs and dungeons (cant find palaces) but aside from the pretty good strange water/food that 1 guy has in each place (which from fighting and using it myself, heals every kind of wound nearly instantly) the rest of the loot is pretty trash, lots of stones that i cant seem to find a use for, is there a secret loot room or something? playing as a human adventurer, i dont remember finding any equipment that was for my size

They can be different types of items; I've encountered rings, earrings, pikes, hammers etc. all in the same world. The rest is accurate though.
