can't use obsidian when crafting items or blocks

I'm having an issue with obsidian, I made an obsidian farm (lava pool + water, mine, rinse repeat) and tried using the obsidian to make crafts and some blocks.
I get messages saying that there is no obsidian in linked stockpile but I tried this even without linking any stockpile to my workshops and making sure the obsidian is in the same stockpile than the rest to the stone I usually use for crafting. I can craft whatever I want with those other stones but never with obsidian.
I use some mods but I created a fort without any installed to see and I have the same exact issue.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug ? Does someone else have the same issue ?

Obsidian has other uses as well (making sharp blades, nothing great), which is why by default it is tagged as "economic".
You can change that in the Labor > Stone menu.

Basically the game "locks" stones that have other uses (flux, fuel, ores, plaster, kaolinite and obsidian) from being used for basic stuff by default so you don't end up using up all of it without noticing.
