Do you consider "quantum stockpiles" an exploit as well? Because if so I don't know how you deal with the sheer amount of [Stray Bull Cartilage] flooding the world.
I remember when I was somewhat new to game, learning the ropes, then a person taught me how to put every item in a single location/tile (a quantum stockpile is what it's called) as if it was a normal game mechanic, but it didn't seem normal because of the steps that had to be taken to execute it... I eventually had to argue against the philosophy of using it because it breaks the point of using normal stockpiles, and it also felt like cheating the system.
Similarly on how they are fully aware of "turtling up" and being immune to any threat with a wall and a bridge. But they won't touch it until siege are fleshed out and your enemies (and you) use siege weapons. At which point bridge and walls won't be enough.
As usual with DF, it's up to the player to play like they want to.
Dwarf fortress is a toy box with many things you can play with, and there is no way to use all of them at the same time anyway.
Not using one because you don't enjoy it is plenty reason to do so, but if you start to use reasons like "it's an exploit" then there are a lot of fun things you will have to not use as well for the same reason.
But no, I don't abuse physics in every run. Usually I try them out just to see them work in action and then don't bother with them again.
