What's with all the beards in adventure mode?

I'm trying to create a character in adventure mode and every male character has a beard and moustache. It's rather annoying as I'd like to not have either of those things on characters that likely wouldn't have a beard.

I would assume it is because the game's original focus is around dwarves but it is indeed weird to not have any male human without a beard when randomizing a hundred times.
I mean, I get that cutting hair, beard and all was not commonly available (or at least not frequently) during the middle ages for basic commoners but even then there should probably be some without facial hairs.

More of a nitpick for me than a real concern but still a bit weird.
