Dwarf Fortress

Dwarf Fortress

Goblins
Newly generated world, 250 year age, 5 years into my fortress and have not had a single goblin siege. My main enemy has been giant chinchillas (savage biome). I think I'm ready for organized armies, but my civ is not at war with anyone. I don't even receive caravans from anyone from the mountainhomes but as far as I can tell the world is healthy. Lots of humans and elves, everything. How do I start some wars and get some enemies to play with?

Uhh, attack them? Learn patience and they'll attack you? Get rich and they'll attack you sooner? This seems like exactly the sort of thing you could have figured out with about 3 more minutes of work...

Find a settlement from the chosen civilisation on the world map and create a hostile mission related to it. Then military squads of your choosing will carry out the mission, and your two civilisations will be at war. :urist:

Uhh, no, you're just trolling to troll. Try harder, it wasn't believable enough.

Are you using race mods, or choosing particularly abnormal start locations? I've always had goblins show up without fail... but I did notice some race mods, can screw up the world, basically making goblins extinct or changing how factions interact with each other. 5 years with no raid sounds kinda odd to me.

Let me guess. OP started on an island with no other civ.
The poster before wasn't trolling. You can make a mission from Civilization screen and send your military squad (s) to do missions on sites of other civs. You probably need to choose raid option in order to make sure that your dwarves get detected. After that contact is made and you will start getting attacked. You can also check your save game raws folder. There is an option to edit them in order to turn up the frequency of the attacks, the requirements for caravans etc.

You should probably quote who you meant by "the poster before", because.. I'm the poster before (the last post), and I've been drunk posting off and on for the last hour or two, between rocking out to spotify and cleaning a giant chinchilla cage, for chinchillas that aren't even mine. I'm almost certain you're not talking about me. 🤣
My bad. Yeah, I was talking about the quoted post below.
