The tick appearing then disappearing means they're starting the job then cancelling it, you might get more info in the notifications
Unfortunately there is no notifications :(
Looking for this setting now.
Is this in the announcements .txt?
Found it, it was set to "Some". Setting it to "All" to see what it says.
I also adjusted a setting in there that said.
"Dwarves will save corpses". I changed it to "Dwarves will dump corpses". I'm unsure if I should do that though.
Update: The little check mark that marks it for a task shows up still and nothing shows up on the cancellation notif.
When I first start up a fort, I create a 'dump all the ♥♥♥♥ here' stockpile and a 'dump all the rocks here' stockpile and it takes a while for the handful of dwarves not mining or making stone chairs to work through all the stockpile tasks.
The tag means that its on the list of things to do, just give them time.
Now you have it set to all (probably worth setting it back after to some after to avoid spam), are you getting any cancellation notifications?
Yeah, there's no more stuff to move, and all the queued up tasks are done. Turned it all off, and 4 dwarves are at "no job" :(
Alright I swapped it back to save.
Yeah, I see the gather refuse from outside one. I'll do that as well.
I'll leave it set to all for a while, I'm getting a few like "Needs to collect 1 more cave web" or something. Otherwise nothing.
In the meantime, you could check a couple of things to troubleshoot. Idk how many of these you've tried, but you could:
-check you have no burrow restrictions
-check dwarves can move between the corpses and the dump by moving a squad between the two places
-try dumping another random item
-give a dwarf the hauling detail (keep it set to everyone does this, think assigning someone changes it) and turn off general labours for them. If the issue is that your dwarves are too busy, this could help
As of thus far, no cancellations besides that one that cave web one, which isn't showing up anymore :(
No burrow restrictions. Haven't set up burrows yet.
Just checked if they can move between the two- Can for sure.
Trying to dump a rock now. They've apparently all decided to pray now... LOL... I'll let you know with this one. (As of so far they're ignoring the dump rock).
I set two dwarves to haul/orderlies.
Rotten food isn't getting taken out either despite miasma now.
Troglodyte corpses are getting put in the refuse/corpse stockpile now though.... Just not the things I need...
1. Confirmed no burrow restrictions.
2. They can move between the two for sure. Double checked now. They also dump bones and things, but not corpses.
3. The other random item did not dump, but they are dumping other rotten things now. (I tried dumping a rock, didn't work.)
4. The hauling detail worked, but NOT for the corpses.
5. The second that the corpses turned to bones, they moved the corpse.
Maybe if this happens again, create a couple of stockpiles near the corpses. Set one to refuse, the other to corpses and don't do any customization. That would tell us whether there's something configured that's getting in the way
I don't see anything regarding rotten stuff aside from "rotten raw hide". :(
It also takes rotten food no problem too. Just not... Corpses. Whether the corpses are rotting or still clean. (It wouldn't even take the mole dogs to butcher the carcass).
I set up a stockpile for corpses, then I set up a stockpile for refuse.
Then I set up a stockpile for corpses and refuse both. (All were available at the same time).
Neither would take 'em :(
