Just like in real life, sometimes dwarves are going to get bummed out about things they can't control.

If it makes you feel better my dwarves get depressed over that even though they have family in the fort and some of them even share bedrooms with spouses. I feel like the mist generator is the only thing that keeping the peace in my fort.

It depends. Dwarves can fall in love, have kids, get married etc - so there's that angle for the early ones. Many of your migrants will come and bring their family along - or have family members join later - so the net is that longer term it's less of a problem as they start breeding and you have lots of related dwarves....
which brings it's own potential for FUN when suddenly mom carries the baby into battle...
or mom loses her kids to a were-capybara and gets depressed...

mostly Urist McExtrovert wont be truly pissed for missing family - even the single ones who're asexual will mostly just get drunk or yell at the mayor. It's the ones who're filled with rage you gotta watch out for - because keeping them from losing it is a micromanaging nightmare. In those cases? expel them to other holdings. If they're really valuable skilled dwarves? build a guildhall and let them train up replacements (or pull in workers from holdings that fit the bill)

Grumpulus, Good point.
If we put "no family" dwarves into a burrow with just one dormitory...

Will they they find Romance?!?
