It's a bit of a PITA but I usually make 2 kitchens, the main one functions from 4 linked one tile stockpiles that draw from a no barrel or bin general pile.
The one tile stockpiles are
A. Meat/Fish/Cheese
B. Plant/Flour
C. Plant/Flour
D. Oil/Jelly + Finished Goods > Tools > Jug Materials Only > Whatever Quality
So long as my haulers are doin their thing it works, but if things are busy I just link it to the main feeder pile which is usualy about 5 tiles away.
Second Kitchen is made in some far off corner of the fort and just renders fat cause dorfs absolutely love making worthless, no food joy causing cat tallow biscuits if you let them.
Also turn off Jug Material and Tools in all other finished goods stockpiles, again PITA
Jesus wept, use punctuation.
Yes, mead production is currently a mess. Yes, the jugs get filled with one item and don't get store in food stockpiles meaning your cooks will likely ignore them. Yes you will get constant spam about jobs being cancelled because of lack of containers.
No, it's not worth the time and effort.
