Problems with mead production
if it was not problematic enough to start it at all if found out that royal bee jelly just stays inside jugs and is not moved to a barrel at all like other liquid and they dont use the jug to harvest new honey of course so i am making an atempt they use it up for cooking making a stockpile just for jelly close to the kitchen and forbid it in all other also diabling all tallow and alcohol for cooking hope it works at moment i have over 130 jugs full with 1 jelly..

Could you sell the excess until your food production uses it? Might have to reduce other food sources, i think jelly is low priority for cooks. How many prepared meals do you keep on hand?

i could dump all the jelly in like 5 minutes (would be same as selling it)because if have a good setup where everyone dumps it but i want to try something automated maybe i also try to make a second kitchen that is linked to that stockpile i have a automated order to make 3 lavis meals if stock is under 5 (check daily )and i have around 50 meals that way.

Ok, gotcha. I guess you could increase the total meals, but yeah thats alot of jelly to get through. Its a shame its only a stack of 1 per pot.

It's a bit of a PITA but I usually make 2 kitchens, the main one functions from 4 linked one tile stockpiles that draw from a no barrel or bin general pile.

The one tile stockpiles are
A. Meat/Fish/Cheese
B. Plant/Flour
C. Plant/Flour
D. Oil/Jelly + Finished Goods > Tools > Jug Materials Only > Whatever Quality

So long as my haulers are doin their thing it works, but if things are busy I just link it to the main feeder pile which is usualy about 5 tiles away.

Second Kitchen is made in some far off corner of the fort and just renders fat cause dorfs absolutely love making worthless, no food joy causing cat tallow biscuits if you let them.

Also turn off Jug Material and Tools in all other finished goods stockpiles, again PITA

Jesus wept, use punctuation.

Yes, mead production is currently a mess. Yes, the jugs get filled with one item and don't get store in food stockpiles meaning your cooks will likely ignore them. Yes you will get constant spam about jobs being cancelled because of lack of containers.

No, it's not worth the time and effort.

i purged all my jugs in lava because i could not get rid of the jelly itself was funny to see over 100 jugs boil with jelly but i build it so i could get them later with 2 floodgates.
