Report a translation problem
This does not necessarily mean high quality furniture such as a ☼bed☼, but ☼masterwork☼ furniture inherently means higher worth. IE; if your bed and ☼bed☼ have the same monetary value, they'll give the same amount of happiness.
So I looked through my top 10 happiest and I didn't see the "admired an engraving" thought or memory. Maybe this was removed or maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about. I would bet money I have seen that on many occasions, but that could have been in a different release.
I put things they like between the door and their bed (floor grates, animal traps). You can probably put several objects like that in the hallways as well. Would look weird, though.
