It annoying sometime but I think it cuz by game skip frame like game cant keep up with ur clicking.
Try to play with a more zoomed in perspective. It will help the performance a lot, and you can always zoom out when you need to see more.
There's a click-activate delay that seems to be widely present, there. IOW - It takes xx microseconds for any click, regardless of anything else going on, to be registered, in heavy or light lag.
So, in that case, one would seem to have to very purposefully "click and hold" a bit longer than one would have to do if the focus window one was using was eagerly waiting to detect your clicks... :) That experience gets multiplied in heavy FPS lag, IMO.
But,, I haven't had any noticeable terrible "unimprovements" when pausing - The behavior is certainly much better than "live" in heavy lag. The clicking I experience is the expected, more or less.. sometimes less, the same "click and hold briefly" mouse-click experience the game generally has already.
However on my most recent, flowing water, 11,000 prepared meals food fort, my FPS is definitely preventing clicks even while paused, haha.
Also it still happens sometimes even on low pop forts when you're at max visual FPS.
