How to solve a dwarfs need to aquire an object?

Do i need to make them a noble and gift something?

make clothing. They go and pick it up, put it on. They drop their old worn clothing. They also get angry if they are wearing old and worn clothing so it's a win win either way. Bonus points if it's dyed clothing.

It's solved by them sometimes keeping an item they haul and declaring they own it :)

So you just create crafts in the fort and have them hauled around as usual.

No, they'll claim crafts they like, so check their preferences and make craft out of their favourite materials. Clothing is a safe bet, I find, so having someone make some cloaks, hoods, or any clothing should give your dwarves something to acquire

I have trouble with it too, I just try to make lots of crafts and coins out of all sorts of fort detritus, it's one of the ones I've struggled with since at least 47
