Can't engrave memorial?

Anybody else run into this?
I have slabs availabe, and I've recreated my stoneworkers workshop multiple times in different locations, verified the slabs/stockpile aren't restricted, and yet dwarves still won't engrave memorials which is terrible because I have 5 dwarves who died that I can't get to.

Make sure you have idle dwarves with the engraver labor active.

Hmm, weird, for me, the same guys that make stone blocks, tables etc also engrave slabs. Do the dwarves cancel it with an error message or just don't get around to it? Have you tried marking the task as high priority (the exclamation point icon)?

I can set it to high priority with every dwarf in my fortress assigned to engraving and wait an hour and they never do it.
Pretty sure it's bugged.

Weird. I haven't changed my stone labors from the default and they do it just fine. Both "stonecutters" and "engravers" say "everyone does this".

Do you have specialized labors set up? What happens if you reset it to default? Otherwise, yeah, could definitely be a bug

That's a good idea.
I'll try specializing some stoneworkers/engravers when I get home and see what happens. Thanks for the advice!

i'm having the same issue and i tried specializing etc. as mentioned above but it didn't fix it. it's odd because it was working fine in another seed i was doing prior.

are you able to issue a work order to engrave or did you have to manually click on the dwarf?

nm: i had to manually click on the dwarf in the stoneworking shop and then click on engrave on his labor tab in his character profile.
