Do We Only Get One Save?
Yesterday I had my first fortress get wiped out and decided to get a new team ready to try retaking it. As soon as I got the new game launched and ready I saved and then decided I wanted to also start an entire new world.
Today after playing the new world a little I went back to main menu to play the first game and the only save I had for the first world was an autosave from right before my first fortress ended.
Then going back to main menu the second world is also gone.
So am I having save file issues or are we only able to stick to one game at a time?

No you have unlimited manual saves

Its a little confusing but basically you have to select the "Retire fortress FOR NOW" option if you want to play another fort in the same world that you already have another fort in.

Basically how it works is that a generated world is considered a "Save File", or in this case a "Timeline" in this version. In the Classic version, the only way we were able to copy a save file was to manually copy the folder that contained the world info.

Here are some rules:

---You can only play one mode at a time in a Save File (Generated World)---
There are three modes: Fortress, Adventure, and Legends. The only way to go from one mode to the other is to abandon or retire the other (with the exception of Legends mode, since that mode is more of a history book about the world you created).

---Duplicating a Save File (World)---
What if you want to view "Legends Mode" without being forced to abandon or retire your current mode (Fortress/Adventure mode)?
This is where the "Save to a new Timeline" button comes in handy. It allows you to duplicate your Save File (Generated World), so that you can retire/abandon your active mode in that new save file.

i.e: scenario with 2 save files

Generated World 1: In Fortress Mode
Generated World 1 (Copy): Legends Mode being viewed

And I think the only difference between Abandoning and Retiring a fortress in Fortress Mode is that "Retiring" lets you retake the fort when you select "Fortress Mode" again.

After reading through the comments I loaded up World 1 and retired it, loaded up World 2 and the fort no longer exists but I can start a new game in that world.
Went back to the main menu and loaded World 1 to unretire the fortress
Is there any risk of the weeks that pass while getting the world prepared?

So on top of the "Retire your fort in World X to play fort in World Y" there's a problem with save files because I'm checking my folders and files are disappearing
