Dwarf Fortress

A true Mountainhome must have a true throne!
Hello,

So I've had my monarch in my fortress for a bit now, and finally got his quarter to meet his royal standards. (my poor platinum and gold reserves).

A notification came up on my screen stating the following "The King (name) is satisfied with their position here. Everything is properly royal, properly furnished. And yet? A true Mountainhome must have a true throne! And a true ruler requires seven symbols, symbols not of this world. Mere steel will not suffice. Deeper. We must dig deeper. "

Can anyone fill me in on what this means/what I need to do?

Thank you!

Sounds like you got to dig, dig deep.

theory and spoilers ahead:

if you dig down until you reach the magma lakes you can find a single huge cluster of different kinds of gems. this cluster stretches along multiple layers. (mine was on elevation ~110 to ~120)
if you proceed to mine the gems you will eventually find multiple "otherworldly" items. maybe those are meant? i am not sure. my dwarves were all killed before i found out
there is a high chance that you find demon bosses or that you will find the entrance to hell and get swarmed by even more but not so powerful demons. always have both two well trained and geared melee squads and at least a single ranged squad ready.

Thank you for the info! My bois are strong, so hopefully one squad of each is enough. We shall see!

But what's the "true throne"? Just adamantine or what? Can't find anything about it, but the rest about the symbols is in the dwarf fortress wiki.

I found a single weapon (with missing sprite) in a "geode": those 3x3 basalt / rare gem blocks in the cavern.
It was announced with a on screen message.

That weapon was made of divine metal.

isnt seven also the number of items you can give any noble?

So, 'symbols' you can assign from the nobles/administrators tab by pressing on that 'crown' icon, suppose for that you would need those divine metal items you may find down there.

For the throne. it just means Adamantine, I reckon.

*picks teeth* This seems like a whole lotta work. I gave the queen a true throne deep inside the molten red sea. But I salute your efforts.

Can't figure out how to trigger this, got a candy throne in Queens bedroom, have at least seven symbols after gruesome trial and error digging through various stones, tried assigning them to various nobles and also all to the queen. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

If this thread is correct, you need to make the seven items symbols.

Yeah they are showing as symbols when I assign them to nobles and they carry them around, but when I assign to monarch they do not show, the monarch just carries all them around. Uncertain if it needs to all be with the monarch or throughout my nobles. Or maybe it is because I have a queen and not a king.

Alright figured it out. All items need to be under the monarch and my throne was in the bedroom not the office. The throne needs to be in the office (throne room). Thanks!
