How to deal with undead
So I've started to build a really nice fortress but it was overrun by necromancer. 2 weeks later I decided to retake the fort and build this fortress again. Is started nice and I've managed to grow my fortress to 35 dwarfs. One day a visitor stole an artfact from my inn. I figured out it was an undead bard. I decided to deal with him and little did I know he was a legendary monster slayer. No need to say he cut the population of my fortress to 5 dwarfs and left. This is like really OP. Is there a way to deal with undead? I plan to retake this fortress again.

That doesn't so much sound like an undead problem as it is a problem with an extremely skilled combatant. Hammers work on undead as a rule, though, but that's mostly against resurrecting types.

^ yup this pretty much, you just need skilled fighters and perhaps traps.

If it does you're not using enough.

I reloaded the game and the most recent save is just before the unded dwarf came and I decided to attack him. I was given the second chance.

If a corpse is mangled it will not resurrect. Otherwise, when a necro resurrects a creature, it has a 50/50 shot at being hostile or docile

Really? I just automatically assume that every visitor is a potential thief. In my experience I always found stolen artifcats on the dead bodies of immigrants. Plus he tried to run away after he stole the objec but I have half of the map encircled with a wall and one exit so he couldn't run away and hid in a workshop.
