Tarn/Zach/Kitfox more or less intent to treat DF sales like Rimworld sales: basically never.
They only put it up for sale because one of them got cancer and that's kind of expensive to get treated in the USA. You can still play the free version if you like.
free doesnt mean the best.
“Hugely overpriced” is a bit deceptive. Everyone sets the value of a game relative to their own wants and monetary situations, but objectively, what’s on offer here is about a decade more work than Rimworld has in it and it costs $5 more. The market determines over and under, so I’d say it’s not at all overpriced.

Are they? Tarn was born in Washington, and graduated in Stanford. When exactly did he move to Canada?
Their health system does stink if you get seriously sick though and many do go to the US when they get seriously sick.
