Assigning Artifacts (Weapons/Clothing)

One of my dwarves recently crafted a legendary pair of leather trousers, but i was wondering if there was a way to assign it to one of my military dwarves? the only way of assigning clothing ive seen is through the nobles and administrators menu, but i dont necessarily want to give it to one of them.

you need to consider first if the created item was claimed by him or given to your faction if someone else wears it you get a crime case or he murders the other one.

ok, for this specific case, the dwarf gifted the artifact to our faction

If you want to assign specific piece of gear to a soldier, you can do that by selecting them at the Squad window.
There you can assign a default uniform to your squad or individually equip them one by one, either selecting the kind of equipment like "Iron helm" and they will equip any iron helms they find, or selecting the specific one you wank, like the artifact gear in your case.
