You guys gotta crank out those bugfixes.
I'm glad to support Toady after enjoying DF in it's original form for many many years, but if I'm paying for something it should be more stable. This is the third time I've crashed out when trying to open up a menu. Even with it set to autosaving every season I'm still losing tons of progress when it happens, I almost don't even want to load the save back up in the off chance I lose progress again.

They've fixed plenty of crashes already with the last few updates. And for most people, it works just fine. If the reason your game crashes is a rare one, they might simply not be aware of it. There's no magical "fix all crashes" command, so giving details is always important, to help them either replicate what makes your game crash or have an idea of where the issue might be.

And I've given what I could describe, it always crashes when opening a menu. This time it was opening the Nobles menu. If DF dumps an error log somewhere I'm not aware of it.

Any other menus have that problem? Just the nobles? What's your display resolution? Resolutions above 1920x1080 were causing more crashes at first, but I think they fixed most of those...

Yeah, I just crashed and lost about 2 hours of gameplay. I'll get over it, but it feels bad for the nonce.

The "loading units" crash should be of the utmost importance right now. It bricks entire world saves. I've had it once, and it was the worst, because it only happens to long surviving forts.

My monitor is above that, so I'll downsize and play in windowed mode I guess. Dunno if it'll help but thanks.

Yeah. Im playing on a 4k TV that's in 1080p mode and have had zero crashes besides one bricked save.

I've also heard that going into the save folder and deleting everything except world.dat can help? But back it up first and I haven't tried it myself so YMMV

If you look at the folder where df is installed there is an error log, it has helped me find some minor bugs in my mod, but I don't know if it will tell you what's causing your crashes

just crashed and lost a few hours gameplay and like 30 automated tasks.

Think I am going to wait for this game to get more stable before starting another one.
