Dwarves angry about not praying to their deities, despite multiple temples.
So, I have several dwarves who are upset about not being able to pray to their deities of choice, but I have built dedicated temples to all of the gods that anyone gets unhappy about not praying to. These gods have plenty of other followers, and in some cases multiple temples for sub-sects, but these people never go to the temples and then get angry about it. Is there any way to work around this?

Make a temple to no specific deity, they can pray to any god there.
They tend to go to the closest temple that has one of the deities they worship, which causes issues when they worship more than one.

Usually you only make temples to specific religions (and not deities) when they make a petition for it (once they get 10+ members).

But praying takes a while anyway, so dwarves that worship more than one god tend to not be able to fill their need for praying to all of them and there isn't much you can do about it.

I also have an non-denominational temple, it was the first one I built. I made specific temples because certain dwarves refused to pray in that one, even before petitioning for a dedicated temple. In 90% of the cases, it worked just fine, but for three specific dwarves, they just refuse to pray.

To be fair, ALL dwarves have some issues. I think pretty much every dwarf in my fort now has the "doesn't really care about anything anymore" trait, because there are so many corpses being hauled to the dump/awaiting dumping.

There could be an issue where they're working so much that they just don't have time to worship. Could be a lot of things!

I tend to not really worry about it much. As long as they've got a nice bedroom to crash in (I usually have each dwarf thier own room with carved stone, cabinet, table and chair) and plenty of food and booze, the unhappyness from not being able to pray gets overridden by the happy thoughts of everything else.

I usually don't even bother with religious stuff until somethings got like 10+ followers, then i'll make them a little temple and toss in some tables, chairs and chests.

Fair enough. I guess I'll just focus on improving their basic creature comforts. Their quarters are lagging a bit behind, although the food and drink are plentiful and excellent.

I wouldn't put tables and chairs in rooms other than dining rooms and offices, the good thoughts from eating in a "legendary" dining room really pile up over time.

I tend to just give them a temple to no specific deity (except for religions that petition for a temple of course since there are benefits from doing it) and to try to get most of their "needs" met though.
When their needs are met, they are focused, which increases their work speed and results, and when they are unfocused or worse they get a debuff on those.

At the very least, you want your legendary workers and militia to be relatively focused, the haulers don't matter as much since they don't use such buff/debuff for basic tasks.

I've never actually tried just making a dining room by itself, guess it could be worth a shot.

Also i've been wondering how the heck to get drinks actually in my tavern. I've got a tavern keeper, and chests filled with goblets, but i've always wondered if I needed a stockpile of booze just for it, and how to even get booze stocked to there.
I've got a big stockpile right beneath the tavern that's got prepared meals and booze, and people tend to just hang out there all day and do all their eating and drinking, which i've always thought was kinda odd.

You need a stockpile for drink inside the tavern for the tavern drinks and one outside of it for the normal drinks (when thirsty), usually you make a small one in the tavern and tell it to take from the other ones that is bigger.

EDIT: You can make your tavern from a dining room instead of a meeting area if you want to put your tables and chairs there, otherwise you might want to not put them there.

the problem here is specifically due to dwarves who worship more than one deity. when Urist start to get distracted by not having prayed to one of their gods, they'll break work for "i need to go pray" and then go to pray to one of their gods, randomly selected. there's no guarantee that they'll choose to pray to the god they feel the need to pray to; it's up to a random dice roll whether they choose to pray to the god they're feeling the need to pray to or not. the more gods urist worships, the greater the chance that they'll pick the wrong one. this can result in poor urist spending lots of time playing temple roulette before finally picking the right god to worship. in addition, i'm fairly certain that the dice roll favors earlier gods on urist's list of gods, so if urist has three (or armok help us) four gods that they worship, the chances of actually getting all of them into a decent state over any reasonable period of time are pretty damn bad

dfhack has a solution for this, called "fix/stuck-worship", that reallocates worship and prayer events to the god that urist needs to worship the most. this is a bit of a bodge, but until bay12 fixes the bug[dwarffortressbugtracker.com], it's the best we can do

Thank you, it worked! :praisesun:
I always forget about being able to tell stockpiles to give and take from other places.
