How can I heal myself?

Hi, I'm playing the adventure mode beta, never played before. I think I understand the mechanics added so far, but I can't figure out how I can heal myself if I get hurt.

So far the only thing I found that heals is resting/sleeping.

I have had some types of damage that does not fix itself with time (e.g. smashed antenna; torn nerves)

Cuts and bruises will heal over time, but broken limbs and nerve damage are permanent impairments(crutches can be used to get around broken legs) until mods or magic come around. DFHack has a full heal command the was brought up in another thread, if you can't accept the loss.

Adv mode has always been very harsh when it comes to taking damage yourself.
