I think there is a bug around removing walls (and possibly floors) that were engraved, the engraving doesn't get removed properly apparently.
Someone even recently reported an engraving being left even though the tile no longer has a wall or even floor (it was fully removed/dug but the engraving is still there, floating).
So, can wood floors be engraved? I was going to fire up my fort and check. I have always been under the impression that they had to be stone floors and walls.
At the very least I can confirm that it is possible to engrave metal floors and walls, it works for bars and blocks and seems to properly multiply the value given to the room.
Not sure why wooden stuff would be specifically left out.
You can engrave wooden floors, in the screenshot above walkways are floored with shale and bedrooms are floored with different wood kinds. so far all of them have a little face on them to show they are engraved, only those that I build where I dismantled the walls look unengraved.
the tiles right next to the unengraved looking ones and the unengraved ones themselfs are made of the same cherry wood.
those descriptions always talk about walls in my game... spent some minutes confused clicking around as I engraved and checked on my first floor tiles.
in this screenshot is a description of the center of my tavern floor... there never was a wall in this spot.

by now I think it is a visual thing only... at least my baron is happy with the new bedroom... and I am doing my best trying to ignore the eyesore.
Ah ok, good to know. I have played the game many, many hours but there are still lots of things I'm not sure. I didn't think it was possible but thanks for verifying.
