Suggestion: Butcher Sentient Creatures

Make butchering all creatures possible but maybe a negative mood with eating and butchering. They are out to survive and morals can go out of the window to keep a fortress running

It is possible to edit the morals of civilizations, and in fact there are probably already mods where butchering sentient creatures (and even one's own race and citizens) is permitted. Modding is a path to many powers that some consider . . . unnatural.

Well I'm not expert in unnatural but I'm pretty sure DF already has necromancers and bogeymen, I think cannibalism is more natural than those considering we ate the Neanderthals into extinction during the ice age

But that isn't !FUN!. I want to Butcher merfolk for money (I ran across a thread mentioning it and that is why I made this post, but also thought that it could be an interesting aspect to the game since you can butcher clowns and they are intelligent enough to bind themselves to the world with a slab)

Necromancy allows you to turn individuals or maybe limited groups into monsters, modding allows you to turn entire races and civilizations into them.

Are you asking for this to be part of vanilla DF with dwarves willing to slaughter and eat other sentient creatures? That seems unlikely to be done.
Or are you looking for a mod?
If you use one of the mods that allow you to play other races, it is my understanding that both elves and goblins will butcher sentient creatures.
I don't know of an existing mod that allows dwarves to do so, but I believe it is a simple mod to do if it's important to you. I think you only need to alter a line or two in the Mountain entity. I'm not a modder myself, so can't give step by step instructions.
