Can I force the old UI?
Basically, I wanted to play the classic version of the game and that's why I watched an old Nookrium's tutorial from 2020, since all the newest ones cover the Steam version. Here is the link:

However, upon downloading the newest version, even in classic version, I was met with new UI and I don't like neither it's look or the focus on using the mouse. So, my question is, can I somehow force that old UI from 2020. through mods or any way at all? I think it's a lot cleaner and simpler than the new one and I would like to play with it on the newest version!

Ugh... I can't stand the new UI... Well, thank you anyway! If a mod to bring back the old UI comes out, please do notify me!

There won't be, the UI is all in the code, mods can only affect content.

If you want to play v47.05, it's still available for download on bay12's website. You can even download the old 2D version and play that if you want.

Yeak, I know, but it's an old version, so it doesn't make sense to go for it just because the UI. I'm trying my best to learn the new UI. It's OK when you get into it, but it's a shame they didn't develop the game with the old UI seperately. The game screen really feels cluttered now.

Also, the tutorial is broken in the new version. It literally breaks at the start when you try to zoom in and zoom out, you can do the one, but can't do the second, so you have to skip ahead. Bloody thing confused me more than that multiple episodes long tutorial of Nookrium haha

I can definitelly feel the pain of the old fans crying about the old UI. The old one was so simple. Yeah, it was rustic and looked like an options menu for a roguelike game, but I think that was the point, since the brothers are roguelike fans and Dwarf Fortress is also a roguelike.
