Dwarf Fortress

How to equip rings in fortress mode?
Wiki says jewelry can boost happiness when they're equiped. So I made a few rings for my dorfs, but nobody equip them. Why?

it's random. They'll take stuff when they want. No way to really make them.

Dwarfs claim items when they haul them. They will usually only claim items if they have a 'need' for it. This means if no one decides to keep it after its been hauled to a stockpile it probably wont get claimed unless it moves stockpiles again.
Do they need a chest in bedroom? I set my minecart QSP to take jewelry from QSP and they hauled those repeatedly yet nobody claimed one.

i might be wrong but cabinets are for clothes and chests are for weapons.

I dont think so, ive seen non bedroom dwarves in my fort wandering around with rings that have been crafted in my fort.

I am not 100% sure but I think the dwarves preferences play a part in what they claim.

Have a stockpile for finished goods (or specifically rings) and your dwarves will pull a few for themselves in the same way they put on clothes. Its something they won't do unless they want to fulfill that need, however. Higher value rings will make them happier, and they perceive materials or specific items they like as more valuable than otherwise comparable items.
