Releasing dwarf from cage (justice)
Can somebody help me? I couldn´t figure it out - well, I tried to look at some older things, which said "attach lever to cage" but it´s undoable. Am I missing something?

You should use chains for your jail, not cages.
It also helps with their mood since they can get boosts from furnitures around them while chained.

I think you need to "build" the cage in question, link a lever to it and activate the lever to release the dwarf.

The cage should have an option to release the dwarf once you build it, the lever is not required (except for hostile creatures).

Thanks! But I´m dumb - I just had to build lever + few mechanisms. Then click on link and THEN instead of other mechanism choose the CAGE!
Gah!

Oh, is it possible when I release the prisoner he just leaves the fortress?

Don't worry, we all had these moments as well.
The whole "how do I do that" when there is a big button for it in the center of the screen for example.
Or getting angry after an appliance doesn't do anything when you push its buttons, going on a rant about programmed obsolescence (not sure it's even written like that) only to find out an hour later that it wasn't plugged...

Depends on the prisoner, if it was one of your dwarves then no but if it was a visitor it's definitely possible.

It was one of my dwarves. I´ve released him...and he vanished. He isn´t dead, he isn´t missing...just gone. Weird!
