Is there open space above the wall and the cart?
(when stuff is shot out, it goes to the layer above)
I had no clue stuff went a layer above. So should the minecart slam into a wall with a fortification on top of it? The fortification on the layer I wish to launch the items?
Yes. and if you put containers in the minecart you wish to empty in the same fashion, you will need a wall one z-level up for the containers to hit, and a fortification another level above that for the contents to go through. Using bins full of stuff can make loading the minecart go faster, and using occupied cages will let you launch the goblins from one siege at high speed into the next siege. A similar setup will let you dump creatures out of cages into magma without ever risking a creature breaking free as it is led to a pit.
