How do you stop magma pushing constructions?
Hey folks, trying to create a pool of magma from a volcano, but once I let it into the area I've built for it I've got floodgates and bars to help me stop lava crabs and also control magma flow but the magma just pushes the constructions and deconstructs them (They are obsidian and iron so magma-safe). How do I stop the magma from doing this?

Are you using magma safe mechanisms also? They also need to be magma-safe (not just the flood-gates). Sorry if already trying this.

Yup that was it, cheers. Didn't realise it would deconstruct them if the mechanisms were iffy.

Funny note, this does not let the Magma push a bridge, I have a bridge with Mica mechanisms that ignores this rule.

You got lucky accidentally :) - Mica is magma-safe. Certain bridge designs (mostly 1 by X or X by 1) are also safe as long as they are closed, since to destroy the mechanism, the magma has to occupy the tile the game counts as the "center" of the bridge, and a raised bridge keeps magma out of the wall tiles along the edge. Those bridges are subject to destruction once they are open, though, since then the magma can get at all the bridge tiles.
